Water Pressure Regulator
A water pressure regulator, also called a water pressure reducing valve, is a compact, inexpensive device that performs two functions: (1) it automatically reduces the high incoming water pressure from the city mains to a lower, more functional water pressure suitable for the home; (2) it "regulates" or maintains a set water pressure in the home - usually 50 psi - thereby insuring home piping and appliances operate under a safe, moderate and satisfactory pressure.
